The EHF EURO 2014 threw off on Sunday night with a spectacular opening ceremony that told the story of handball in Denmark at Herning's Jyske Bank Boxen in front of a capacity crowd of almost 14,000 spectators.
It was the popular Danish no.1 singer, Nabiha, who had the honour of writing the official EHF EURO song, 'Bang that drum', which she also performed live for the first time on that occasion.
It was a performance she had been very much looking forward to.
"It’s a huge experience for me. It’s has been a fun process with the writing and producing of this song.
The whole time, our goal has been to capture the energy of handball and put it in the song and the video.
"It is really important to do something for the fans – not only in Denmark – but in all of Europe. I’m really pleased with the result," says Nabiha.
The Danish artist knows her way around a stage as she has performed at many different types of events. But singing in front of handball audience in a handball arena is definitely something new for her.
"I have never played handball myself and I only know a couple of the Danish players – the ones everybody knows," she says with a smile.
However, she is now looking forward to becoming a part of the EHF EURO 2014.
"My fascination of handball begins now," she says.
