What a splendid opening day this has been!
The atmosphere was great in both Herning and Aalborg. In Aalborg, the enthusiastic Icelandic fans made sure their team could hear them and you had to be very hard of hearing not to do so!
In Herning, there was a fine combination of the ceremonial and the popular.
Both the official opening - a very nice show looking back at the history of handball in Denmark - and the popular excitement merged perfectly when Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark, the Prime Minister and the Minister of Culture just turned into enthusiastic fans: three among more than 14,000 just supporting their team and enjoying the thrills of handball and victory.
All of this bodes well for the coming days! Let us see what happens in Aarhus and Copenhagen tonight.
